Gene's Jubilee, 2007

a public art project

Commissioned by the DC Commission the Arts and Humanities (DCCAH) and supported by the Corcoran College of Art, Gene's Jubilee was the brainchild of artist Mokha Laget. The 450' x 50' painting was applied directly onto 8th Street NW, just below the National Portrait Gallery in Washington DC. It took 2 days, 50 volunteers and over 400 gallons of paint. Gene's Jubilee was part of ColorField:remix, a citywide arts celebration conceived by the Kreeger Museum to honor Washington Color School painters.
